Asnuntuck Community College will offer area students an opportunity to enroll in two free credit courses this summer. Rising high school juniors and seniors are encouraged to participate.
The campus will offer a four-credit MED 133 Clinical Medical Assisting course June 27–July 28 in hybrid format, with classes in-person on campus Tuesdays from 12:30 p.m.-2:30 p.m. and Wednesdays from noon to 2 p.m., and an online component that students can complete on their own schedule.
MED133 offers entry-level theory and skills in the field of medical assisting. Students are responsible for the purchase/rental of textbooks and the purchase of a stethoscope and blood pressure kit (available for less than $30 online). The textbook is used for two other courses at Asnuntuck. High school students can consider utilizing Asnuntuck’s free High School Partnership Program to take additional courses in their junior and senior years and utilize the same textbook.
BMG 202 Principles of Management, the second three-credit hybrid course, runs June 28-July 28 and concentrates on the human side of management with case studies as a major part of the course. Classes will be held on campus Wednesdays from 6-9 p.m. with the option to live stream the on-campus portion, and remaining work completed online. Students can purchase or rent a used or new textbook for the course.
Please contact Julie Cotnoir (jcotnoir@asnuntuck.edu) for additional information on how to apply. The program is funded through a Perkins grant.
