Building on the success of the fall session, and in honor of the Week of the Young Child, Asnuntuck Community College will again offer a Substitute Teacher Training Institute to increase both the amount of qualified candidates in the sub pool and the competencies of those interim teachers. This Institute is in collaboration with KELLY Educational Services, Key Initiatives to Early Education (KITE) and the Enfield Public Schools. Potential substitute teachers from throughout Connecticut and Massachusetts who are interested in learning about this position and teaching children infancy through grade two are encouraged to attend. Participants will have an opportunity to learn about substitute teaching responsibilities and jobs available immediately in both private and public early childhood centers and schools.
“Training programs for people who wish to substitute teach are unheard of,” explained Carol LaLiberte, ACC’s Early Childhood Education Coordinator. “ We have put together a week filled with learning, activities, and connections for those wanting to pursue this as a career option. Our first Institute in the fall was a huge success and participants left ready to enter the classroom and further the learning. We are thrilled to be able to offer this again, this time in the evening, for those who prefer that time slot.”
The course will be offered from April 13-17th from 5:30-9:00PM. The cost is $100 and interested participants can register by calling (860)253-3066.
