Asnuntuck Community College’s Alpha Lambda Zeta Chapter of Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) Honor Society held their induction ceremony on Friday, November 1st. The chapter inducted 45 students. Phi Theta Kappa serves to recognize and encourage the academic achievement of two-year college students. Students inducted into PTK are afforded opportunities to develop and participate in community service programming and obtain leadership training.

The local chapter presented ACC Student Activities Director Sherry Paquette and Accounting Professor Nick Lefakis with honorary memberships as part of the ceremony.

Asnuntuck Community College’s Foundation has committed to helping support students who cannot afford the $80 initiation cost. The Foundation has committed $2,000 this year to help with this need.

The Foundation’s support with this expense will afford students an opportunity to apply for thousands of dollars of scholarships from four-year institutions. Students inducted into this organization have the opportunity to apply for many scholarships because of their status as PTK members. PTK students have access to $90,000,00 in scholarships and $37,000,000 in transfer scholarships. An average GPA for a student in PTK is 3.6.
