ACC is offering several programs this spring that are SNAP approved and can lead to careers. Students who have completed the college’s basic esthetic students or those already in the field can enroll in the Advanced Skin Esthetics Program to learn more advanced skin care services, potentially increase earning potential in this growing profession and earn a certificate in Advanced Skin Esthetics. This program starts May 15th. The college’s Nail Technology Program will also begin on May 15th. Students enrolled in this program will earn a Nail Technology Certification. Students will participate in the nail technology clinic on campus and gain skills needed to compete in the workforce. Both programs are SNAP approved.
Students participating in the Heartsaver CPR/AED class offered at ACC will be taught the skills needed to provide first aid, CPR, and automated external defibrillator (AED) use. This two hour class will be offered on May 2nd. The $55 fee includes the textbook and certification card.
ACC’s Massage Therapy Program will begin June 12th. Massage Therapy is one of the fastest growing and most diverse occupations in the healthcare industry. Massage Therapists help with everything from stress management to injury rehabilitation.
Certified Pharmacy Technicians are in demand and ACC will be offering a SNAP and WIA approved program this spring. Students completing this program, which starts June 1st, could potentially earn college credit. This 72 hour program lasts 24-weeks. Students will learn skills and receive training, which will position them for a possible job as a technician. The course will include lecture, discussion and practical problem-solving exercises designed to give the student the tools needed to work as an effective Certified Pharmacy Technician, anywhere in the United States. This course will also offer students an opportunity to become nationally certified by the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB). Students who have successfully completed the Pharmacy Technician program, and have been certified by the State of Connecticut, are eligible to receive college credit through the Connecticut Credit Assessment Program administered by Charter Oak State College.
An opportunity to apply for a pharmacy technician externship at Baystate Medical Center is also available through ACC, for an additional fee.
