ACC is offering several healthcare programs this spring, many of which are approved for SNAP and/or Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) scholarships. All of these programs are in fields where there is job growth and salaries that are self-sustaining.
The scope of programs is varied. Students interested in a career in beauty can enroll in a Basic Esthetics program that starts on February 26. People interested in working with pets in a veterinarian’s office can register for the Veterinary Assistant program that begins on February 5.
ACC’s Massage Therapy Program will begin January 30. Massage Therapy is one of the fastest-growing and most diverse occupations in the healthcare industry. Massage Therapists help with everything from stress management to injury rehabilitation. ACC’s Massage Therapy program has a 100% pass rate and 100% job placement rate. The 884 hour program includes 784 hours of classroom instruction and 100 hours of hands-on clinical training.
Certified Pharmacy Technicians are in demand and ACC will be offering a SNAP and WIOA- approved program this spring. This 72-hour program lasts 24 weeks. The course starts February 27 and includes lecture, discussion and practical problem-solving exercises designed to give the student the tools needed to work as an effective Certified Pharmacy Technician, anywhere in the United States. This course will also offer students an opportunity to become nationally certified by the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB). Students who successfully complete the Pharmacy Technician program and are who certified by the State of Connecticut are eligible to receive college credit through the Connecticut Credit Assessment Program administered by Charter Oak State College. An opportunity to apply for a pharmacy technician externship is also available through ACC, for an additional fee.
Certified Nurse Aide/Patient Care Technician (CNA/CPCT) starts on February 21. CNA/CPCTs work in hospitals, nursing homes and long-term healthcare facilities providing patient care. This dual certification program is offered in partnership with Enfield Adult Education.
Other healthcare programs offered this spring include, Certified Personal Trainer (begins February 24); Ophthalmic Assistant (starts February 20), and Sterile Processing Technician (starts February 24).
