It will be a golden celebration when Asnuntuck Community College’s Foundation hosts the Upscale Dueling Pianos for a second time on Friday, April 1st at 6:00 p.m. at LaNotte Event Center in East Windsor. The fundraising event will celebrate the college’s 50th Anniversary.

The anniversary will be commemorated throughout the year. Often referred to as a gem in North Central Connecticut, classes for Asnuntuck began in 1972 with an initial enrollment of 251 students in the North School building in the Thompsonville section of Enfield. The college moved in 1974 to a leased warehouse on Phoenix Avenue (now a Courthouse). In 1983 it moved to its current location, of 170 Elm Street in Enfield. The campus has increased its footprint with each move, including a Tower Lobby, Conference Center and student-centered office space, along with a state-of-the-art 25,000 square foot Advanced Manufacturing Technology Center having been added in recent years.

Co-Chairs for the Dueling Pianos event are Robyn Lee Miller from MorningBird Media and Jeffrey Lomma from Northwestern Mutual. Other committee members include Vicki Clark from Connecticut Commercial Realty; Linda Cote from Webster Bank; Glenn Ford from Phoenix Manufacturing; Tim St. James and Keith Madore from Asnuntuck Community College, Connie Provencher from Educational Resources for Children; and Margaret Van Cott from Connecticut State Colleges and Universities.  Funds raised from the event will be used to help support student scholarships and programs at the college. The evening is set to begin at 6 p.m. and will also include an hors d’oeuvres reception and a silent auction, featuring gifts cards and baskets, artwork, cleaning services, and sports memorabilia.

Dueling Pianos-Music and Song for Scholarships will feature New York City Upscale Dueling Pianos performers Steve Laureti and David Ross. The performing duo will entertain the audience in an interactive evening, featuring a variety of tunes, including the music of Billy Joel, Journey, Frank Sinatra, Bruce Springsteen and more. Those in attendance will have the opportunity to battle to tip for scholarships to hear their favorite song.

Keith Madore, Executive Director of Asnuntuck Community College’s Foundation said, “The Asnuntuck Foundation is excited to bring back Upscale Dueling Pianos as part of the 50th Anniversary Celebration of Asnuntuck Community College.” He added, “This fun and innovative fundraiser features a cocktail hour with abundant hors d’oeuvres, our famous silent auction, and a live musical performance at La Notte Event Center in East Windsor.” He continued, “You name it, they’ll play it!  Whatever song you want, until someone else ‘ups your bid’ and boots your song off the ivories!  Dueling Pianos is an evening of friendly rivalry and entertainment. Steve and David of Upscale Dueling Pianos, at their dueling keyboards, bring the best songs of our times to the event, all for a good cause, funding student scholarships and programs at Asnuntuck.”

Asnuntuck’s CEO Dr. Michelle Coach is looking forward to the evening. “Asnuntuck Community College is excited to continue with our Dueling Pianos fundraiser this year!  Dueling Pianos was extremely entertaining last year, and we had an amazing time while generating scholarship dollars for our students.” She added, “We are happy that we can celebrate together at the same venue.  Thank you to all that provide sponsorships and attend this event—we want to create life changing experiences for our students, and these donations are crucial for us to do so.”
