Eileen Peltier, Asnuntuck Community College’s Dean of Workforce Development and Continuing Education, hosts the December episode of “Changing Lives.” Her guests are Gary Carra, Business and Industry Coordinator; Continuing Education Coordinator Jessica Poirier and Esthetician instructor Kelly Krivacs. The show features information on programs at Asnuntuck, customized training offered by the college, Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) scholarships and the new cosmetology program at the college.
Carra talks about the services Asnuntuck offers for employers in the area, including customized training that is designed to meet the employer’s needs and can be offered on campus or at the employer’s site. He shares information regarding new apprenticeship funding, available through a partnership with the Department of Labor. The funding includes wage reimbursements up to $13K over two years. Poirier, during the program, supplies information regarding Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) Scholarships, available for students who enroll in Asnuntuck’s healthcare career training programs. Poirier also discusses the Charter Oak Credit Assessment available to students enrolled in the healthcare career training programs.
Kelly Krivacs, Esthetician instructor, speaks about the basic and advanced esthetician program at Asntuntuck. She and Poirier also talk about the new cosmetology program coming to Asnuntuck in the spring and all of the processes and services students will learn.
Asnuntuck will host an Open House on Wednesday, January 9th from 5:30 p.m.-7:30 p.m. Registration is currently underway.
