Registration is now open for Asnuntuck Community College’s fall semester. ACC is offering exciting courses for students looking to advance their careers in the field of early childhood. The college has several courses that are appropriate for area childcare providers and ACC is once again offering a Substitute Teacher Training Institute that will put you at the head of the class, when it comes to being hired as a substitute, for an area school system.

“Introduction to Early Childhood Education” is the perfect starting point for students looking to begin their education at Asnuntuck. The course is offered on either Tuesdays from 12:30 p.m. -3:25 p.m. or Thursday nights beginning at 6:00 p.m.

All of the courses being taught at the Enfield campus meet requirements for both Connecticut and Massachusetts residents wanting to become early educators.

“Administration and Leadership in Early Childhood Programs” is available online and is an important course for those wanting to become day care Directors.

“Music and Movement for Young Children” is a hybrid class, with half of the requirements offered online and five fun, interactive class meetings on Mondays from 6:00-7:30 p.m. This course does not begin until September 11th.

“Infant Methods and Techniques” will be offered online. This course is designed specifically for Infant/Toddler teachers based on their requests and needs.

ACC is offering a week-long “Substitute Teacher Training Institute” for anyone who is currently or wants to substitute teach in private and public schools for children, birth through second grade. The institute will be held the week of October 24th and is one of the only formalized training for substitute teachers nationally. The fee is $100 to register for the week.

Classes for the fall begin August 29th. Asnuntuck offers in-state tuition to Massachusetts residents and free childcare for children ages 3 and up, during daytime classes.
