Participants from Women’s Leadership Institute are conducting a book drive for Asnuntuck’s Children’s Reading Room. Participants Jada Williams, Alicia Mollison, Nyla Hadden and Abby Polanek are leading the project. The collection for new and used children’s books for ages 3-12 will take place from November 1st-November 30th. The group is accepting early reading and chapter books. Collection boxes will be located in the college’s front lobby, its library and outside of the Children’s Reading Room.

The Children’s Reading Room is a free childcare service offered to registered students, staff, and faculty at Asnuntuck. The Children’s Reading Room functions on a cooperative basis: each parent is required to volunteer two hours per week regardless of how much time they utilize the service for their child during the week. Parents can leave their child while they attend classes, do research, computer work, study, do homework, or any other on-campus educational needs.

The Children’s Reading Room is open to children three years and older. Please contact Pam Keenan at pkeenan@asnuntuck.edu for additional information.

Female ACC students are encouraged to sign-up for the next Women’s Leadership Institute’s “Launch Your Leadership Journey”, a tuition-free, 6-month, leadership development program, which leads to the ACC Certificate in Emerging Leadership. Attendance at all sessions is required. This is an experiential program There are no papers, no tests, no textbooks, and no fees. All participants design and participate in projects benefiting the community. Contact Sherry Paquette at spaquette@asnuntuck.edu for more information on how to apply.
