Asnuntuck Community College’s Changing Lives Show this month features ACC President James Lombella interviewing Connecticut State College and University (CSCU) Higher Education System President Mark Ojakian.

The two spoke about the benefits for the State of Connecticut of having one merged system of colleges and universities, as well as the many services offered to ACC students. President Ojakian spoke about his vision and his message for the community, including the importance of open access, inclusion and diversity on all of Connecticut’s college and university campuses.

They discussed Asnuntuck’s “Dare to Cross the Line” initiative, which allows Massachusetts students to pay Connecticut tuition, a savings of 66% off out-of-state rates. President Ojakian stated that other campuses across the state will also be exploring innovative ways to market themselves. Currently CSCU serves 85,000 students.

Students from across the system, including Asnuntuck, will be speaking to members of the Appropriations Committee this month. President Ojakian said hearing the students share their stories last year was very inspiring, and listening to their passion about their education was impactful.
