Asnuntuck Community College will be collecting items until January 3rd to send in care packages to a unit from the USAF 103 Air Wing, from The Connecticut Air National Guard, who are serving overseas. Collection boxes will be located inside of the Student Lounge and Freshwater Commons. Cash donations, to offset the cost of mailing the boxes, will also be collected and can be given to Julie Cotnoir (Academic Affairs office) or Sherry Paquette (across from the Information Desk). Also, students, staff, faculty, children and community members are also invited to write letters, cards and/or draw pictures, to be included with the packages.
Suggested List of Items to Send to Servicemembers:
AA/AAA alkaline batteries, sunflower seeds, protein powders, protein bars, Q-tips, seasoning salt, sunglasses, sunscreen, toilet paper, toiletries, toothpaste/toothbrush, T-Shirts, aspirin, baby powder, baby wipes, beef jerky/Slim Jims, books, breath mints, CDs, condiments, dental floss, deodorant, dry soup, DVDs, electrolyte replacement drink mix, eye drops/wash, foot powder, gum, hot chocolate packets, Kleenex, Lip balm, lotion, magazines, mouthwash, pen, paper, envelopes, playing cards, microwave popcorn and large gallon size Ziploc bags.
