Asnuntuck Community College’s internationally known poetry journal, Freshwater, will hold a coffee house on Tuesday, October 7th in the Strom Conference Room, featuring poetry written by Freshwater’s Founding Editor, Edwina Trentham, and Lisa Mangini, the magazine’s newest Editor.  Trentham, a recently retired professor of English at Asnuntuck Community College, oversaw the production of Freshwater for 15 years, and organized monthly reading series, in addition to student contests, and an annual poetry festival.  Mangini, a former student of Trentham’s, will be reading from her new collection of poems.  This event will celebrate the history of Asnuntuck’s poetry journal, Trentham’s remarkable inspiration to countless English students and poetry lovers, and the transition of Freshwater to new leadership.

Copies of Freshwater’s 2014 issue will be on sale, in addition to copies of books written by the readers. An open mic will be a part of the evening.  The event takes place in Café II at Asnuntuck Community College, 170 Elm Street in Enfield from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Refreshments will be served. The coffee house is free and open to the public. Donations are welcome.  For more information, contact Lisa Mangini at
